A Sicilian treasure worthy of discovery, our all-natural Pistachio gelato is made with pistachios from Italy that are roasted locally here in Vancouver. These precious nuts have been grown in the fertile volcanic soils of Mt. Etna in Sicily for centuries and are prized for their unique aromatic nose and intense fruit flavour. Sicily’s “green gold” pistachios (or “frastuca”) are so highly valued that during autumn harvest they are given police protection! Every year at this time, the renowned Sicilian village of Bronte holds a Pistachio festival celebrating these exquisite gems with an opportunity to taste pistachio in all its glorious gastronomic versions.
We’re celebrating with a seasonal, new pistachio gelato worthy of Zeus that is naturally sweet and fragrant. We’ve added Avalon Dairy’s fresh organic milk and cream from the Fraser Valley, along with a touch of organic cane sugar and Vancouver Island Sea Salt, for a rich treat that will transport you to the scenic slopes of Mt. Etna with each delectable bite!
