Its peak citrus season and we’re celebrating with a refreshingly delectable Blood Orange sorbetto. Made with fresh squeezed Blood Oranges, our exotic sorbetto is a sweetly tart version that’s bursting with flavours of ripe orange with hints of cranberry and raspberry.
A wonderfully sweet and beautifully crimson coloured citrus fruit, Blood Oranges need a temperate climate with both hot and cool weather to bring out their true colour. In Italy, so highly valued by locals, the fruit is considered l’oro rosso or the “red gold” of Sicily. Near Mt. Etna in the province of Catania, a Sagra dell’arancia rossa (Blood Orange Festival) is held the last week of February, where throughout the charming region you can indulge in local gastronomic citrus themed dishes.
